Beginning Band
Any rising 5th/6th grade students that are interested in becoming a member of the Brantley Band Program are welcome! In Beginning Band, students learn the basics of music reading and how to care for/play an instrument. They perform twice a year, once at the end of each semester. At the beginning of the school year, students will have an opportunity to "demo" different instruments that they may be interested in playing, and Mrs. Blackstock will assist in picking an instrument that is right for that student. Once they have selected an instrument, students will be able to purchase/rent an instrument for use.

Essential Elements Interactive (EEI)EEI is a GREAT, free, online resource for Beginning Band students to use while practicing at home! Every Beginning Band student has a "Student Code" associated with their method book. This, along with a classroom code given to them at the beginning of the school year, gives them unlimited access to the online version of their method book! This includes TONS of extra resources developed specifically for the beginning band student! Online assignments will also occasionally be given through EEI.

Buying/Renting InstrumentsInstruments are a investment, and students will be more successful if they begin on quality instruments. Each type of instrument has different brands that are considered "high quality," even at the beginner level. Before purchasing an instrument on your own, PLEASE check with Mrs. Blackstock to make sure you are purchasing a quality instrument for your child! Parents may also purchase/rent-to-own instruments from Art's Music Shop. A store representative will come to the school for a testing night, and parents will be able to purchase/rent instruments from Art's Music at that time .
More information about rental night will be given at a later date. |
